MES Virtual Phase
Curated by the Centre for Excellence in Media Practice (CEMP).
All participants of the III Congreso Internacional de Educación Mediática y Competencia Digital will be expected to participate in the conference’s virtual phase, throughout May 2017. This phase will be curated by the Centre for Excellence in Media Practice (CEMP), UK.
This virtual phase is designed to extend substantially the time for dialogue and it is hoped that the online exchanges will provide ideas and create archives that can be used to shape and support the face-to-face conference proceedings and post-conference field-building, which will follow on in June 2017.
Through these tailored online activities, we hope to avoid scenarios where a few speak and many listen. We intend to make the most of each space, each medium and each moment.
The aims of the virtual phase are:
- to initiate a first step to get to know each other and each other’s work, through the online forum;
- to present ideas, documents and multimedia materials and to introduce our theories;
- to offer those who can’t make it to Segovia the chance to register their voices in the discussion.
After the virtual phase, participants will have the opportunity to personally meet those colleagues with whom they have already shared information and interests throughout May 2017. In the face-to-face conference phase in Segovia, we will prioritize the development of interpersonal relationships by facilitating meetings among attendees from different backgrounds.
Participants can find the online forum here:
Throughout May, participants will begin by posting their abstracts. As the month develops, and delegates are working on their papers, the online forum will become a ‘sketchbook’ of developmental material, used to inform each participant’s contribution to the conference. CEMP will host and curate these interactions and begin to direct and theme conversations over May. By the end of the month, all participants should be able to make all of their material available, and everyone will see and read everyone else’s contributions. The month of activity will be augmented by a series of CEMP podcasts, to direct, prompt and encourage engagement.
The activities will be as follows:
